GEOLOGY IS 3D AND MORE THAN JUST LINES

Standard interpretations rarely acknowledge the distinction between faults and contacts, or the overprinting of multiple deformation events. DIP's interpretations aim at producing a map that can be understood by the geology team. This involves reconciling the known structural history of the area with physical rock properties and expert modelling of the data.

Models need to respect geological principles and the limitations of geophysical data with depth. It sounds obvious, but with access to software able to create a model with one click, it is not uncommon to see shocking violations of the above principles. DIP models are informative and targeted at extending the interpretation into 3D.
